postheadericon LOOKING FOR HOME OWNERS INSURANCE CALIFORNIA WITH A ROTTWEILER?

I am purchasing a house this month and trying to get an IDEA on how much my home owners insurance will run me, however I have a rottweiler ( obedience trained, no attack training) and several insurance companies have out right told me they do not write policies for owners with rottweilers… any one know of a company that will cover me? and Not charge me an arm and a leg??

Answer:

State farm is a dog friendly company. They only ask if your dog was trained to be a guard dog or if it has ever bitten anybody. Not sure if it varies by state but in my state they insure aggressive breeds

postheadericon Can an insurance company cancel home owners insurance because you own a dog?

We have a friend that was told by insurance company that he had to get rid of his 2 labs because they are high on the bite list. If he diesn’t get rid of them the insurance company will cancel him.

Answer:

Yes, they can. However, Labs are not generally considered biters and I’m wondering what list they were looking at.

Have either of the dogs bitten anyone?

There seems to be something else going on here. Read the article below though and tell them to find another insurance company. Not all insurance companies are anti-dog. They’re just anti-dogs that bite and I’m having a problem with Labs being classed as biters. They are not a breed known for biting. If they were, Guide Dogs for the Blind wouldn’t be using them as one of their main breeds for Guide Dogs.

Additional info: Here’s the only dog bite list I could find. Labs are not on it. (the number at the end of each breed is the number of fatalities between 1979 – 1998)

1. Pit Bull — 76
2. Rottweiler — 44
3. German Shephard — 27
4. Husky — 21
5. Malamute — 15
6. Wolf-Dog Hybrid — 14
7. Mixed Breed — 12
8. Chow-Chow — 11
9. Doberman-Pincher — 9
10. Great Dane — 8
11. St. Bernard — 8

postheadericon how many auto/home insurance policies are purchased via the internet?

We understand many insurance policies are shopped for on the internet, but how many are actually purchased via the internet?

Answer:

There is no way you are going to get a valid response to this one if you are looking for a percentage of all policies sold. It is obvious that there is a lot of growth in this area since you see a lot more companies offering quotes and other services online. For people who have a basic understanding of insurance and their financial needs this is a great solution but they should understand that it will not necessarily save them any money. Sometimes the best bet is to still use a local agent.

postheadericon Buying home insurance… where to buy?

I am looking for an engine which can compare rates of home insurance, and possibly along with car insurance without wasting time. One that is best for New Jersey would be nice. Thanks. Also, any tips on buying home insurance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks- Hong
if you can, buy where is a good site to find a good indep. home insurance.

Answer:

Well, they’re out there, but you have to buy it, and it’s really expensive. Most independent agencies buy the software, and then pay monthly to pay for rating updates. We’re talking several thousand for the initial software, and about per month, per company, for the rate updates.

You are trying to be your own agent.

Unless you know the difference between replacement cost and GUARANTEED replacement cost, and unless you know which extra endorsements you need (are you familiar with an HO41?), you will be making MAJOR mistakes by trying to do this yourself. You likely won’t even be able to get the accurate (for each company) limit for the building.

Go visit a local, independent agent, and ask them to give you quotes with 10 different companies. Have them print it out. Then go to another one or two, and get 10 or 20 more quotes, from 10 or 20 more companies.

You can’t get the policy, anyway, without using an agent. So let them do ALL the work for you.

postheadericon who has the cheapest home owner insurance in southeast Louisiana after Katrina?

i am buy a house in houma louisiana its a 3 bed room 2 bath brick home and its not in a flood zone no alarms and no pets looking for 1000 ded can anyone help me with that

Answer:

There’s no one size fits all cheapest. Some companies are cheapest on houses less than 10 years old. Some on houses more than 40 years old. Some go strictly by your credit score.

You’re going to have to contact a few local agents to get quotes.

postheadericon What is the most affordable small home or cottage insurance company?

I own a home that is 300 sq feet. It’s basically a little cottage/studio house. I am looking for a company that will 1) insure a home that small and 2) is affordable. Does anyone have experience with a company they would like to recommend?

Answer:

The secret to finding cheap home insurance is to do your research and obtain as many quotes as possible. You should start by comparing anywhere from three to five quotes. But if you can find 10 or more companies that offer home insurance coverage, you are really going to be in a good position. The bottom line is simple: the more home insurance companies that are vying for your business the better chance you have of getting the best price.

Moving on, you need to be fully aware of the power of the internet. What does this mean? Simply put, if you want to learn a lot about home insurance and have the chance to obtain plenty of quotes, the internet is where you need to start your search. You can easily find information on home insurance and the companies that sell this coverage via the internet.

As you can see, the secret to finding cheap home insurance is to obtain as many quotes as possible via the internet. When you do this, you will find that you have an affordable policy in place well before the time that you need it.

I found a site on CNN that helps you get quotes according to all your requirements. Its an excellent tool. Try it out

postheadericon Im a first time home buyer, how much should I expect to pay for homeowners insurance in Connecticut?

I am looking at buying a 5,000 home, I have excellent credit, I have no past insurance claims, and my home would have a replacement value of 0,000.

Home insurance is actually very flexible. I’m not sure about Connecticut regulations, so I suggest you contact a local home insurance agent. http://www.easyhomeinsuranceguide.com/Connecticut-Home-Insurance.html They will be able to help you.

postheadericon Can anyone show me a list of insurance companies with a home office in downtown Chicago?

I’m looking for the major insurance companies in downtown Chicago (not branch offices either, their home office, and not in a suburb, it has to be downtown). They can do any type of insurance too: auto, health, life, disability, etc.

Answer:

I don’t know of ANY that have a “HOME” office in Chicago. Sorry, you’ll have to get your yellow pages out, look up the companies, and go to each website to verify where their HOME office is.

Many of them will be out of the US.
