With whom should I insure my home, now that State Farm is letting go of their Florida home insurance policies?
Answer:
It pays to start shopping around for a new policy. The good news is that more than a dozen insurance companies have entered the market since the hurricane-induced meltdown of 2004-06.
Citizens Property Insurance Corp., the state’s insurer of last resort, has been farming out hundreds of thousands of its policies to startup companies. Firms in that group include American Integrity Insurance, United Property & Casualty and Federated National Insurance. Many have been dubbed poor financial risks, though none has been tested thanks to our mostly storm-free hurricane seasons since 2006.
Companies with stronger ratings have been branching out in Florida, too. One is St. Petersburg’s ASI, which recently insured only newer homes, but now is taking on older homes.
If you struggle to find coverage, contact the Florida Market Assistance Plan at www.fmap.org or by calling toll-free 800-524-9023. FMAP helps consumers find coverage. If you still can’t secure a policy, an agent will place you with Citizens Property Insurance.

they quoted me about 0.00 which is better than my current insurance of 0.00 per year.
the home is 800 sq feet and the added rooms total is 600 sq feet.
if you have a mobile home with a added room attached located in

In general it is hard to insure mobile homes but it is required for the bank of a 103,000 asset.

Must I carry insurance on my Canadian home that backs my line of credit?
I see no mention of an insurance requirement in the fine print of my bank line of credit contract that places a chattel mortgage on my home. Am I in trouble if I don’t insure my home, or if I reduce the coverage to less than the full replacement value. I’m in Canada
Answer:
If it’s not contractually required, then no you do not need to carry insurance on your home. However you would be better off speaking to the person who arranged the line of credit and confirm this just to be sure as you may have misread the contract. Beyond that you are only in trouble with yourself unless you somehow have enough money to rebuild your house on your own saved somewhere. No insurance company is going to let you insure your house for anything less than the full replacement cost of the house. If you try they will just cancel the policy as they will see you as a moral hazard and not worth the trouble. You may be able to get away with it on a commercial type policy, however that will be difficult to arrange and will end up costing you way more.
What is the most affordable small home or cottage insurance company?
I own a home that is 300 sq feet. It’s basically a little cottage/studio house. I am looking for a company that will 1) insure a home that small and 2) is affordable. Does anyone have experience with a company they would like to recommend?
Answer:
The secret to finding cheap home insurance is to do your research and obtain as many quotes as possible. You should start by comparing anywhere from three to five quotes. But if you can find 10 or more companies that offer home insurance coverage, you are really going to be in a good position. The bottom line is simple: the more home insurance companies that are vying for your business the better chance you have of getting the best price.
Moving on, you need to be fully aware of the power of the internet. What does this mean? Simply put, if you want to learn a lot about home insurance and have the chance to obtain plenty of quotes, the internet is where you need to start your search. You can easily find information on home insurance and the companies that sell this coverage via the internet.
As you can see, the secret to finding cheap home insurance is to obtain as many quotes as possible via the internet. When you do this, you will find that you have an affordable policy in place well before the time that you need it.
I found a site on CNN that helps you get quotes according to all your requirements. Its an excellent tool. Try it out

Victorian Fires and Home and Contents Insurance?
I am curious to find out how many out there have no home or contents insurance especially given the disastrous fires in Victoria, where some home owners had no insurance. Why would you not insure for a few hundred dollars an asset worth hundreds of thousands of dollars?
Answer:
a lot of these people lived on farms. with the drought they were really struggling to earn an income so in many cases people lowered their insurance level because they couldn’t afford it.
also, when you go back and read the fine print there are a lot of loop holes for the insurance companies. most people in this sort of high fire risk area aren’t insured for natural disaster so odds are that’s what the companies will call this. the victims are going to have to fight them because the insurance companies will argue it counts as a natural disaster and the victims will point out that it was lit by a person and so it will take them a long time to receive any compensation.

Where I can find home owner Insurance policy for my Rental Property?
I have a rental property, which i want to insure? wher I can get help.
Answer:
From the question it sounds like you are the landlord…
Call any of the major insurance players in your area and ask for a non-owner policy. This will cover your liability, the structure and a small amount for your personal property. Most landlords keep very little personal property in their rental homes however things like the stove (if it is a push in type unit) can be considered personal property since it is only coinnected to the home by the gas line and or plugged into the wall.
I have my policies with Farmers however they may not be available in the state you reside in. Also, check with whomevery your primary home is insured with or whomever you have your car insurance with. Most companies offer discounts on multiple policies and or multiple lines.
Check: State Farm, Farmers, Allstate, AAA, American Family etc… If your in CA, AZ, TX or FL I can refer you to some agents I have worked with in the past.
Good Luck

car insurance, military home of record where do you insure your car?
home of record is one state. station out of state right now where do you insure your car?
Answer:
I am serving in the military in Hawaii and here you do have to have Hawaii state insurance. I personally always have my insurance of where i am stationed as opposed to where my home is. I used USAA when I first got insurance on my 300zx, I used them for over a year and never had any problems with them or anything. I then bought a new Jeep and wanted full coverage on it, so I got a quote from USAA that just was horrible, I did a few quotes with other companies. I am now with Geico, they have an excellent military department. USAA still offers alot of things for service members, we are getting my wifes car loan through them, but just check other places for insurance, everyone these days does a free online quote.
