LOOKING FOR HOME OWNERS INSURANCE CALIFORNIA WITH A ROTTWEILER?
I am purchasing a house this month and trying to get an IDEA on how much my home owners insurance will run me, however I have a rottweiler ( obedience trained, no attack training) and several insurance companies have out right told me they do not write policies for owners with rottweilers… any one know of a company that will cover me? and Not charge me an arm and a leg??
Answer:
State farm is a dog friendly company. They only ask if your dog was trained to be a guard dog or if it has ever bitten anybody. Not sure if it varies by state but in my state they insure aggressive breeds
Can an insurance company cancel home owners insurance because you own a dog?
We have a friend that was told by insurance company that he had to get rid of his 2 labs because they are high on the bite list. If he diesn’t get rid of them the insurance company will cancel him.
Answer:
Yes, they can. However, Labs are not generally considered biters and I’m wondering what list they were looking at.
Have either of the dogs bitten anyone?
There seems to be something else going on here. Read the article below though and tell them to find another insurance company. Not all insurance companies are anti-dog. They’re just anti-dogs that bite and I’m having a problem with Labs being classed as biters. They are not a breed known for biting. If they were, Guide Dogs for the Blind wouldn’t be using them as one of their main breeds for Guide Dogs.
Additional info: Here’s the only dog bite list I could find. Labs are not on it. (the number at the end of each breed is the number of fatalities between 1979 – 1998)

they quoted me about 0.00 which is better than my current insurance of 0.00 per year.
the home is 800 sq feet and the added rooms total is 600 sq feet.
if you have a mobile home with a added room attached located in

How much does house insurance change when you change your vacation home into a part time rental?
I have a moutain vacation home that I may rent out once a month just to cover the applied mortgage. Is ther any caveots with insurance and what will have to be adjusted and cost extra? Thanks in advance.

You should probably just call your insurance company and ask them, tell them you are thinking about doing that and ask them for a quote. If you don’t like it shop around, it might be worth it.
What does it mean “financially” if your mobile home is totaled from a fire by an insurance company?
My mobile home caught on fire but only one room was destroyed. The rest of the house, about 90 %, sustained smoke damage. What would happen to the home? Would it be mine or the insurance company’s?
Answer:
They will compare the ‘insured value’ of the home and the cost of repair.
If they believe the repair cost exceeds the value, they will ‘total’ it and pay you the ‘insured value’ (which may be a lot less than the replacement cost).
The damaged property is then owned by the insurance company.
However what are they going to do with a half wreaked house/car etc ? = it’s a real pain for them (sorting ownership documents, selling at auction etc) so almost ALL will offer you the chance to ‘buy out’ their interest in the property by taking a lower ‘value’ pay-out ..
Often you will find the ‘value’ you get will be more than enough to do your own repairs (assuming you put in a lot of your own effort and only pay for specialist for things you can’t do yourself)
I want to notify my neighbor’s insurance company that they do not maintain their home. How do I contact them?
My neighbor has water damage to the outside of her home and big notches in the wood paneling, and also an unpainted home. I want her to do something about it because it reduces the value of my home. How can I notify her insurance company so she has to maintain the outside of her home?
Answer:
You ask her who her insurance is with so you can call them.
There is no public database with this information.
Can I sue the home owners insurance company of the person who started a fire?
Answer:
You can’t sue the insurance company. You sue the person. If the person has insurance that covers the wrongful act, then the insurance company will pay.
Does home and contents insurance cover a lost/stolen mobile phone?
It fell out of my boyfriends pocket in a taxi and have tried to call today, but it is switched off. Was wondering if insurance would pay for it?
Have never made an insurance claim. What is the deductable?
Answer:
Call the taxi company and find out if the phone was turned in by the driver. The taxi company should be able to determine what car you were in.
As far as homeowners insurance goes….unless the phone is scheduled on the policy (and it’s probably not) there is no coverage for a lost phone.
If you claim it stolen….you have to file a police report.
Your deductible will apply. Usually a deductible is 500 or 1000. (using 500 as an example) the deductible means that your boyfriend agrees to pay the first 500 of damage if the insurance company pays after that.
So….if the phone is 0 and the deductible is 0 – the insurance company will not pay out anything…..the loss does not exceed the deductible.
If the phone is 0 and the deductible is 0 – then the insurance company will only pay 0.
Odds are, the value of the phone is less than the deductible.
When you put your car, home, and umbrella insurance on a credit card?
Does the insurance company tend to charge you more next year to make up for the merchant fees a credit charges?
So far, they haven’t charged for putting it all on a credit card.
But do they just eat the costs?
Or do they like people that pay 1 year in full upfront – therefore just accepting the costs?
Anyone paid insurance by credit card and found their rates to go up?
Only if you pay 6 months or a year at a time – not talking about monthly.
Answer:
No, they do not do that. That is called the price of doing business.
Excess Charges for Home Insurance Claims?
My neighbours washing machine leaked water through to my ceiling casing damage to the ceiling, wall, and carpet plus belongings etc.
My insurance company have told me that I need to pay an excess charge of £75.00.
Why should I be paying this when it was caused by the neighbour above?
Answer:
Unfortunately, most insurance policies carry excesses, and if you are claiming under your policy then the excess will stand, irrespective of fault. It is a standard condition of your policy.
However, there is a principle in insurance called “subrogation”. If it can be proved that another insured party is responsible for your damage, then your insurers can seek to recover their losses from the other party, and your excess can be recovered in the same way.
I suggest you take this up with your insurers or your broker. In the meantime you will be expected to pay your excess.
If you don’t have a broker and would like some help, please feel free to drop me an email.
