So you think that not having a auto to insure means auto insurance is not mandated?
Yikes.

postheadericon Does having a baby effect your home and auto insurance rates?

When are you supposed to tell the insurance company of the little guy’s existence?

Answer:

Nope, it doesn’t effect the rates.

postheadericon how many auto/home insurance policies are purchased via the internet?

We understand many insurance policies are shopped for on the internet, but how many are actually purchased via the internet?

Answer:

There is no way you are going to get a valid response to this one if you are looking for a percentage of all policies sold. It is obvious that there is a lot of growth in this area since you see a lot more companies offering quotes and other services online. For people who have a basic understanding of insurance and their financial needs this is a great solution but they should understand that it will not necessarily save them any money. Sometimes the best bet is to still use a local agent.

postheadericon Why is my home owners insurance company(auto owners) sending out an Fire investigator ?

The Fire Dept already determined the cause.

Answer:

Three possible reasons:

1) It’s just a random check.

2) They don’t agree with the Fire Investigator’s determination or somehow suspect it’s inaccurate or incorrect.

3) The Fire Investigator didn’t answer a question they have. (For example, he may have determined the location but not the source, or identified the source as an electronic device but not provided specifics about what the device is.)

They may be looking for someone to hold responsible. For example, if the cause was electrical, they may want to try to collect from the manufacturer of the device.

postheadericon Does owning a home increase car insurance rates?

A coworker once told me that once you’re labeled as a homeowner, your car insurance rates go up b/c you can be sued for your house. Is there any truth to this? If it matters, I live in NY.

Answer:

No I think it lowers your insurance all together. A package deal. That doesn’t even make sence about being sued for your house..because if you were sued for your house (which could only happen if you didnt have insurance)-then that would mean that the auto insurance wouldn’t have to pay themselves!

postheadericon Is brand loyalty important when it comes to home and auto insurance?

Other than certain longevity discounts, what are the benefits of staying with the same insurance company for a long time. Why not just find the lowest rates and switch every couple years?

Answer:

None, staying in the same company with not give any loyalty discount. the lowest rate depends on you claims history, driving record, age, credit score, the area ur living in, non smoker , etc…
there is a lot of discounts but there is nothing called loyalty discount.

postheadericon Who is the best company to get home insurance from in GA?

Answer:

the best way to find a good company with a good rate is to call an independent agent in your area. they write for a lot of companies and can look for you. some of the best companies are ones you may never have heard of. try also placing your home and auto together for a discount on multiple lines.

try your local insurance company . like your auto insurance and ask them if they insure business also ..

postheadericon is there a special type of auto insurance for college students whom only drive while at home on vacation?

I need auto insurance for when im home and i do not want to pay for the whole year because i only drive during the summer when i am at home the rest of the year im away at school. thanks in advance.

Answer:

I agree with the other person regarding some insurance companies can stop and start your insurance on demand.

I think I did this back when I was in college (that was a long time ago!). Basically I had to call up the insurance company and tell them when I needed coverage and when I needed to stop it again.

Call your agent. Just bear in mind if you go home for Christmas, you won’t have insurance when you’re home unless you “turn it back on”.

Playing devil’s advocate, turning on and off an insurance policy may do wacky things with discounts on insurance that is based on being a “loyal customer” for “X” number of years. My auto insurance is gets a 5% discount for being with the company for continuously for years. You’ll need to ask if the start/stop thing will impact that.

postheadericon does having utilities and home insurance in your name boost your credit?

i’m aware that ANY bill in your name has to be paid on time to help your credit, but i’m just unsure if utilities even fall under the category of something that will help my credit. or does it have to like a credit card, personal loan, etc

Answer:

Not your credit score. Utilities and home/auto insurance are not reported on your credit report. They can help as alternative credit if you are applying for a loan of some sort, but they do not get factored into your actual credit score
